About the Department

Started in the year 2006, the Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is running a 4-year undergraduate programme in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. Since its inception, the Department has grown in leaps and bounds with the state of art infrastructure. Yokogawa Centre of Excellence, KCT-FLUKE Centre of Excellence in Calibration, Siemens PLC Automation Laboratory are some of the major centres operational in addition to Advanced Process Control and Computerised Sensors laboratories. The Department has a team of well qualified, dedicated Faculty members with vast experience in industrial and research background. The Department is involved in active Industrial consultancy services for neighbouring Industries in the field of Automation. Certified Calibration for Electro-Technical/Thermal/Pressure Instruments are some of the prominent consultancy services. Major and minor projects funded by government bodies and Industries are focused on solving industrial needs. Our association with the Professional bodies ISA, ISOI, IEEE, ISTE, IEI and CSI is playing a significant role in enriching the quality of curriculum.

Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering established in the year 2006 is a specialized branch of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which focuses on the principle and operation of field instruments SCADA, DCS, PLC’S and process control systems which are used in design and configuration of automated systems. These engineers work in industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization and stability.

Within a short period, we have established all our laboratories and centres of excellence, which are required for the curriculum and several specialized equipment and software, which help the students to do their real time projects. We have placed our students in core industries like Yokogawa, Bosch, Data Patterns, TVS, Tesolve, Saipem, ECON, etc. Many of our alumni have successfully cracked CAT and GATE to gain entrance into the high portals of higher education. Also, we have our students pursuing their higher studies in US, UK, Germany, and Australia.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the year 1987 with the idea of equipping young people with the necessary technical knowledge and professional skills needed to address the challenges in the rapidly growing field of Electronics and Communication Engineering and promoting research in this area. In the world of Smartphones, this department has a very significant role to play. Instigate an eye for detail inside the minds of youngsters and there is they come up with a lot of innovation in electronics. For this mission, the Department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories such as DSP, VLSI, Optical & Microwave, and RF/Communication.

About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering established in the year 1984 offers One Bachelor Programme in the stream of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and two Post graduate Programmes in the stream of Power Electronics and Drives and Embedded Systems Technologies respectively. The UG and PG Programme’s curriculum and syllabus are periodically reviewed/re-framed in pace with global scenario in the domain of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Our Bachelor Programme curriculum comprises major thrust areas like Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Systems, Embedded Systems. The Ongoing Government funded Project are MODROB- Modernization of Electrical machines Lab, Grid Connected 200kW solar power station on C & E Blocks roof top and Grid Connected 50kW solar power station on B Block rooftop. The smart classroom and laboratory facilities provides supportive environment for the students and faculty members. The well-structured curriculum and proper placement training help the student to place in government and private sectors.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 1987 and since its inception, the department has progressed with a vision and a strong commitment to developing competent programmers with uncompromising standard of excellence in training, both through class room sessions and hands on sessions. The department has well equipped computing laboratories and a rich repository of software covering a wide spectrum of applications. It presently offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in the Computer Science and Engineering stream.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the most coveted engineering branches of KCT that offers a wide range of basic as well as advanced courses in Computer science engineering at the Under graduate and Post graduate levels. The well-equipped laboratory facilities provide extensive application oriented learning strategies to students to become academic and industry leaders. Solving of real life problems and familiarity with new technologies are improved through Internship, Case studies, Guest Lectures and workshops, participation in contests, Open house exhibitions of ideas and project work based on industrial and societal problems. A good number of students are involved in the projects like full stack web development, Ethical Hacking, Data Science and Virtual Reality, Robotic arm, IoT based Smart Home solutions. They learn the different techniques required to develop a valid prototype, and gain valid insights on real industrial requirement.

About the Department

Department of Civil Engineering is one of the earliest Engineering Departments started in Kumaraguru College of Technology. The department specializes in seven most sought after domains of Civil Engineering which include Structural Engineering, Environmental and Water Resources, Construction Management, Geotechnology, Transportation, Geoinformatics, and Coastal Engineering. The faculty members have graduated from prestigious institutions such as IIT’s, NIT’s, and Anna University and have constantly been involving themselves in research and consultancy in addition to guiding graduates through innovative teaching learning practices.

About the Department

The Department of Automobile Engineering was established in the year 2011 with a mission to prepare highly competent Automobile Engineers for global automotive industries through innovative, industry-oriented curriculum, intensive practical training, and industry exposure to the students in the thrust areas (Automotive Design and Automotive Electronics and Automotive service). The Department focuses on offering industry exposure to the students and train them through Industry projects in the specialized stream of their choice. Major areas of research interest are the Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies, Vehicle Design & Performance optimization and Vehicle Maintenance.
