ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) started in the year 1984 under the able guidance and patronage of Arutselvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, Founder, Sakthi Group envisions to empower the youth through quality education and thereby drive socio economic development blended with spirituality. Situated in a sprawling 156-acre campus in the IT corridor of Coimbatore, KCT is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Biotechnology, a pioneering department in KCT, was started in the year 2002 with a mission to harness and nurture specific skill sets that integrate life science and technology. Currently, the department offers B.Tech. (Biotechnology), M.Tech. (Biotechnology) and Ph.D. (Full/Part-time) with a well-structured and balanced curriculum focusing on major areas such as Healthcare, Nutrition, Bioprocess Technology and Environmental Biotechnology. The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
To meet the fast-changing demands of the industry and to provide a supply of skilled workforce, the department curates its program that conforms to various international and national guidelines. The curriculum is constantly upgraded to suit the demands of the industry. The department strives to prepare students for employment and research in bio-manufacturing, Pharma, Food industries, Natural products and bioinformatics solutions. The department aims to elevate itself to a Center of Excellence through various research contributions in biotechnology as well as interdisciplinary domains. Faculty members constantly upgrade their skillsets periodically in reputed institutions and industries relevant to biotechnology.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The main objective of the FDP is to expose the nanotechnology innovations and their applications in the areas of health, food and environment. The academicians will get benefitted towards sharing the research knowledge by eminent speakers from reputed institutes in India. The various topics that are planned during this program includes overview of nanomaterial preparation and characterization, application of nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery, use of nanomaterials for wastewater treatment, application of nanomaterials as antimicrobial packaging, etc. Therefore, the wide coverage of the subject will enable them to find the research path in nanotechnology to find the solutions for food spoilage, preservation and packaging for increasing the shelf-life of food. Also, drug delivery and treating the waste water from industries in environmental friendly manner, etc..

ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to the faculty members of biotechnology and other allied engineering and technology branches. However, stakeholders belonging to other branches may also apply if the program content cater the need to enrich the teaching – learning process and futuristic research.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection of candidates will be done based on first-come first-served basis. Selected participants are expected to secure a minimum attendance of 80% and also, should qualify the assessment (50%) (End of the program) prepared by the organizing team. E-Certificate will be provided ONLY to those, who satisfy the above requirements.
