Mahalingam, Founder, Sakthi Group envisions to empower the youth through quality education and thereby drive socio economic development blended with spirituality. Situated in a sprawling 156-acre campus in the IT corridor of Coimbatore, KCT is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). KCT has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with Grade ‘A’ and all the eligible UG programs have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Consistently ranked among the top 100 engineering colleges by NIRF for the past 6 years, KCT epitomizes the vision of its founder to nurture the youth to build a progressive future. With the efficient administration of Dr. B. K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, the resourcefulness of Shri. M. Balasubramaniam, Correspondent and the foresightedness of Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, KCT is elevated into one of the state’s leading private academic and research focused institutions today. Being an institution of excellence in technical education adding a number of partnerships with elite academic institutions internationally, KCT offers 15 Undergraduate and 16 Postgraduate programs with 12 of the 15 departments recognized as research centers

The Department of Biotechnology, a pioneering department in KCT, was started in the year 2002 with a mission to harness and nurture specific skill sets that integrate life science and technology. Currently, the department offers B.Tech. (Biotechnology), M.Tech. (Biotechnology) and Ph.D. (Full/Part-time) with a well-structured and balanced curriculum focusing on major areas such as Healthcare, Nutrition, Bioprocess Technology and Environmental Biotechnology. The department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

To meet the fast-changing demands of the industry and to provide a supply of skilled workforce, the department curates its program that conforms to various international and national guidelines. The curriculum is constantly upgraded to suit the demands of the industry. The department strives to prepare students for employment and research in bio-manufacturing, Pharma, Food industries, Natural products and bioinformatics solutions. The department aims to elevate itself to a Center of Excellence through various research contributions in biotechnology as well as interdisciplinary domains. Faculty members constantly upgrade their skillsets periodically in reputed institutions and industries relevant to biotechnology.
