About the Club
HAM radio operators are a group of people nurturing a special interest in wireless communication technology. They operate their wireless transceivers (a combined unit of radio transmitter and receiver) during their pastime for the sheer joy, thrill and excitement involved in doing worldwide radio communication. Unlike the broadcast radio stations (to whom we usually tune our radio receivers to listen to), HAM – radio is a two-way communication system. HAM – radio operators can put their voice on the air and interact with fellow radio operators around the world. When all other means of communications have failed, HAM enthusiasts have played a vital role in communicating from remote inaccessible places during natural disasters like floods, hurricane and tsunami and have aided rescue of victims. The college HAM Club promotes amateur radio operation among students as a useful hobby. The club organizes classes for operating HAM equipment. The club is also involved in obtaining necessary permission from the government departments for HAM aspirants.
