About the Department


The department of Computer Applications was established in the year 1993. Since its inception, the department has been progressing with a vision and a strong commitment to develop competent programs, uncompromising standards of excellence and grooming the students with computational skills that are required in the IT industry. The department has well equipped laboratories with latest computers and software. Also, the department has experienced staff members having both teaching and industrial experience.

 Greetings from the Department of Computer Applications!

The Department of Computer Applications started in 1993 is functioning successfully with an intake of 120 students. The department strives for providing quality education with high standards to provide academic excellence. It excels in transforming graduates into industry ready products with strong analytical & technical skills.The department has a team of experienced faculty members to impact quality education, research & innovation in the key areas of computer science with the state the art computing facilities. Apart from imparting rich technical education, emphasis is laid on other co-curricular activities like organizing & attending seminars, workshops & valued added courses to make students highly competitive in the job market. The mantra, “Success is not based on an individual intelligence, but on the interacting intelligence of many”, drives the department into its par excellence. I am sure that our students will make an ineffaceable mark in the field of computing and make a profound contribution to the society.



  • The Department of Automobile Engineering, KCT, ​conducts KCT MINI DIRT BIKE 2018 on Saturday, 17th Feb 2018.

    The KCT Mini Dirt BIKE Event is a competition for technical performance ​and ​demonstration of 60 CC and 80 CC motorcycles designed and fabricated by engineering college students.

    KCT MDB comprises technical inspection for evaluating the design, fabrication, rigidity, innovation features, cost report & marketing presentation of the bikes and qualifying them for static and dynamic events. Also, dynamic events which includes Acceleration tests, Brake tests and Endurance performance tests for the teams qualified in Technical Inspection. A prize money​ ​of Rs.30000 will be awarded to winners of the event in 60 cc and 80 cc category with special awards for Best Rider & Best Innovation.

    This flagship event from KCT is conducted every year in the dirt track located inside the campus of area 7.0 acres with track length about 1.5 kms with challenging hurdles, jumps and turns to test he structural rigidity & endurance performance of the bikes as well as the skills of the rider.

    We look forward for the participation of your team to exhibit their engineering skills in KCT Mini Dirt Bike 2018.

    The Programme

    Educational institutions having high research and publications receive high visibility. Today institutions encourage academicians to do high end research work and publish them in premier journals. Faculty member are expected to publish quality research beyond teaching, which aids their teaching in a better and practical way. Institutions pays more attention to publication as this has been highly recognized by various rating and accreditation agencies across the globe. Research publications build credentials for individual faculties and quality enhancement for the institute as well. In reality, publications in premier journals is more demanding as one has to find the right journal, understanding the processes and satisfy the pre – requisites of that journal-all of these poses a big challenge. This faculty development programme on ‘Publishing in Premier Journals’ is intended to support researchers in their quest for publishing their scholarly publications in Scopus, ABDC, Web of Science, UGC, Anna University Annexure listed Journals.

  • Cycle rent_poster

    Kilappu- KCT’s Kickstarter is a forum to explore the ideas of KCTians into a startup or a business. The forum will be launched after all the initial start up plans are fulfilled. One of the startups under Kilappu named ‘Karts’ was launched on 23.10.2017. Karts is an art market in which the arts, paintings, crafts and jewels are the specialties.

    * The intention is to sell the art works done by students in KCT.
    * Free Mehndi and Nail Arts were done for the first 10 customers on the day of the launch.
    * Free bracelets and tattoos, an art showcase etc., are to be done on the coming days.


    ‘Rental Cycles’ is another startup under Kilappu which was launched on the same day. The aim of this startup is to provide cycles for KCTians on rental basis.

    * Daily rental will be ₹10 and the monthly rental will be ₹200.
    * Billing is done by KCT stores where the students can pay through their ID cards.

  • Department of Automobile Engineering in association with in association with ARA institute of Canterbury, New Zealand and FMSCI is conducting a “ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON MOTORSPORTS ENGINEERING” in Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, on Saturday, 7th October 2017.

    The objective of this workshop is to develop the understanding and learning best practices in the field of motorsports engineering that includes design & analysis, data logging and performance tuning & testing with focus on International motorsport events that aims to develop technical skills of engineers with a broad understanding of all contextualized to Motorsport environment.

    The workshop will be conducted by about 3 experts from

  • SEDS KCT club (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space), Aeronautical & Mechanical engineering departments are planning to celebrate Space week’17 in association with SHAR-ISRO on 04th and 05th October 2017 in the college campus. During this celebration on both the days competitions are scheduled for school & college students. The objective of this event is to give awareness and latest updates about space to the school & college students.
    ISRO scientists are coming to deliver lectures to the school & college students about space history and latest updates. Along with we are conducting competitions to school students related to space awareness.
